Corso Superiore di Arti Visive
Il Corso Superiore di Arti Visive è il fulcro dell’attività didattica della Fondazione Antonio Ratti.
Ideato e diretto da Annie Ratti dal 1995, il corso mira ad ampliare la conoscenza delle arti visive in campo teorico e pratico alimentando la sperimentazione e l’originalità di giovani artisti provenienti da tutto il mondo. Distaccandosi dalle tradizionali metodologie d’insegnamento, il CSAV si presenta come un’esperienza unica nello scenario Italiano, in quanto privilegia l’improvvisazione, il dibattito e l’evoluzione tematica ai rigidi sistemi d’insegnamento da curriculum.
Sono circa 20 i giovani artisti che, selezionati da una giuria, ogni anno a luglio risiedono a Como per circa 3/4 settimane e creano a fianco di un Visiting Professor (l’artista ogni anno invitato) un’officina sperimentale per approfondire non solo le loro conoscenze delle arti visive, ma anche e soprattutto per interagire fra di loro e con l’ambiente che li circonda. Fanno parte di questa esperienza conferenze ed incontri con artisti, critici ed esponenti di diverse discipline, oltre che dibattiti teorici con i curatori interni.
E’ così che mentre il corso si definisce come un laboratorio estivo per le arti visive, il suo scopo va senz’altro oltre i confini didattici su cui si fonda.
L’espressione di queste diverse attività ed esperienze viene riassunta nella presentazione di un progetto espositivo dei giovani artisti ideato per la città di Como diretto dai curatori, e da una mostra dell’artista invitato prodotta dalla Fondazione in uno degli spazi pubblici della città. Ai giovani artisti viene data la possibilità di realizzare una mostra collettiva in autunno in collaborazione con altre istituzioni no profit. In occasione di questa mostra, una giuria assegna a tre partecipanti il Premio Epson FAR per la ricerca artistica.
Le attività del Corso Superiore di Arti Visive vengono tutte documentate in pubblicazioni bilingue dedicate sia al Visiting Professor che ai giovani artisti.

Advanced Course in Visual Arts
The Advanced Course in Visual Arts is at the core of the didactic activity of Fondazione Antonio Ratti.
Created and directed by Annie Ratti since 1995, the course aims to widen the knowledge of visual arts in both theoretical and practical aspects, nourishing experimentation and the originality of young artists coming from all over the world. Detached from the traditional teaching methods, the Advanced Course offers a unique experience in the Italian territory insomuch as it privileges improvisation, debate and growth, in comparison with the rigid educational systems.
The approximately 20 artists, who are selected by a jury, live in Como for about a month, in July, creating side by side with the Visiting Professor (the artist who is annually invited), an experimental workshop to deepen their knowledge in visual arts as well as to interact with each others and with the surrounding environment. This experience includes conferences and meetings with the artists, critics and specialists of diverse disciplines, and also theoretical debates with the curators of the course.
Therefore, if the course is a summer laboratory for visual arts, it reaches far beyond the didactic borders that define it.
The result of these diverse activities and experiences is gathered in the presentation of an exhibition project of the young artists, created for the city of Como and directed by the curators, along with an exhibition of the invited artist, produced by the Foundation in a public space of the city. The young artists are given the opportunity of producing a group show in the Fall, in collaboration with other non-profit institutions. During this exhibition, a jury assigns the Epson Award for the artistic research to three participants.
All the activities of the Advanced Course in Visual Arts are documented in bilingual publications, dedicated both to the Visiting Professor and the young artists.
